Location score 61/100The cluster lies at the foot of the Partenio Mountains. The Clanio valley and the plain between Nola and Baiano shape the immediate landscape, with wooded slopes rising north of the town and cultivated low ground around it. Part of the Partenio Regional Park lies within this area. Montevergine, above Mercogliano, is the nearest established ski area, but it is a small local field and the drive is roughly 40–50 minutes. Nola is the nearest larger town and has the usual services, rail links and motorway access; Avellino is the provincial capital within similar driving distance. Avella is known for Roman remains including the amphitheatre and tombs, and for hazelnuts in the wider area.
