Bisaccia stands on the eastern Irpinia uplands near the Daunian Apennines, in open hill country of fields, wind farms and wooded ridges. The Ofanto valley lies nearby, and Lago di Conza is within this area. The Conza Lake Oasis, a WWF-managed wetland around the reservoir, is one of the main natural sites in this part of inland Avellino. Monticchio and the Vulture area are farther away in Basilicata and matter more for day trips than for the immediate setting. The nearest town of some size is Melfi, which has services, an old centre and a castle. Bisaccia itself is known for its hilltop position and historic centre in the Irpinia border area.
