The Clanio valley and the plain between Nola and Baiano shape the immediate landscape, with wooded slopes rising north of the town and cultivated low ground around it. Part of the Partenio Regional Park lies within this area. Montevergine, above Mercogliano, is the nearest established ski area, but it is a small local field and the drive is roughly 40–50 minutes.
