Location score 71/100The area sits on the Murge plateau, with limestone farmland, karst ground and the Gravina di Gravina canyon cutting through the edge of town. Alta Murgia National Park begins nearby and much of the surrounding landscape is open pasture, wheat fields and rocky upland typical of the interior Murge. Gravina in Puglia itself is the nearest town of size, with a large historic centre and the Romanesque cathedral above the ravine. The town is known for its rock-hewn quarters and bridges across the gravina. Matera lies farther away and is relevant for day trips, but it is outside the immediate landscape considered here.
