The cluster is on the Adriatic coast beside the Gulf of Manfredonia. It sits next to the Saline di Margherita di Savoia, one of the largest saltworks in Italy, with coastal lagoons, pans and bird habitat protected within the Riserva Naturale Salina di Margherita di Savoia. The landscape around it is very flat, with reclaimed coastal land and agriculture inland. Barletta is the nearest larger town, with rail services, a port and a substantial historic centre. The area is known for salt production and for migratory birds, including flamingos in the salina.
