The area is next to the Monte Velino massif, and the Monte Velino nature reserve and the wider Sirente-Velino Regional Park are within the local mountain belt. Ovindoli and Campo Felice are the nearest ski areas, roughly 35–50 minutes by road depending on the lift base. Avezzano is the nearest town of size, with rail links, hospitals and most services for the Marsica area. Alba Fucens, the Roman archaeological site below Massa d'Albe, is nearby and is one of the main historic landmarks of this part of inland Abruzzo.
