Location score 85/100The area is on the south-eastern Sicilian coast at the mouth of the Valle di Modica, with low limestone hills and a narrow coastal plain. The Mediterranean coast is immediate here, with long beaches at Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga and Sampieri within the same municipal area. The old centre of Scicli lies between limestone ridges and is part of the Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto UNESCO site. Within about 15 km there are also the baroque centres of Modica and Ragusa in the Hyblaean hill country. Vendicari and the larger reserves of the south-east are farther away and do not define the immediate landscape. The area is known for south-eastern Sicilian Baroque architecture, dry-stone walled farmland and greenhouse agriculture on the coastal plain.
