The Curone stream runs through the valley, and this side valley lies close to the Parco Naturale Regionale delle Capanne di Marcarolo only farther west rather than inside it. The nearest skiing is small-scale Appennine skiing around Caldirola and Salice Terme-area uplands, roughly a 30–45 minute drive depending on the hamlet. The nearest town of some size is Tortona, which has rail connections, services and a substantial historic centre.
