The Adda runs through this part of the valley floor, and the terraced slopes of Valtellina viticulture are part of the local landscape. Stelvio National Park begins nearby on the mountain side above the valley toward the upper Valtellina. The nearest ski areas are around Aprica at roughly 20 minutes by road and Bormio at about 40 minutes, but they are outside the immediate 15 km radius. Tirano is the nearest town of size, with rail connections including the Bernina line, shops and services. This area is known for alpine valley scenery, dry-stone terraces and mountain food traditions linked to the Valtellina.
