The cluster is in the Valle Intrasca in the Lepontine Alps above Lake Maggiore. Lake Maggiore is within about 10 km, and the Val Grande National Park begins nearby to the west with steep forested valleys and ridges. Verbania is the nearest town of size, on the lake, with the main services and ferry connections. The area is known for chestnut woods, stone hamlets and access into the Val Grande backcountry.
