The Alta Valle Antrona area and the upper Ossola valleys are nearby, with mountain terrain, high passes and alpine lakes in the wider valley system. The nearest ski area is Macugnaga on Monte Rosa, about 25 km up the valley, roughly 30–40 minutes by car. The nearest larger town is Domodossola, which has the main rail station, services and a historic centre. Macugnaga is known for its Walser settlement history and as one of the main access points to the Monte Rosa east face.
