Location score 78/100The cluster is in the upper Val d'Ossola, in the Lepontine Alps close to the Swiss border. The Toce river runs through this part of the valley. Premia sits inside the Alta Valle Antrona natural context and close to the headwaters valleys of the northern Ossola; within about 15 km the landscape is alpine valley floor, steep forested sides, stone hamlets and high peaks above. The Devero area and Alpe Devero Natural Park are nearby above Baceno, with alpine pasture and high mountain terrain. The nearest ski area is Alpe Devero, reached by road in roughly 20–30 minutes from Premia. Domodossola is the nearest larger town, with rail connections, shops and services, about 35–40 minutes down the valley. This part of Ossola is known for alpine pastures, Walser-influenced mountain settlements in the wider upper valleys, and access to high mountain hiking terrain.
