The cluster is in the Valstrona valley in the Pennine Alps foothills, with steep wooded slopes and small settlements along the Strona valley. Lake Orta lies within about 15 km to the south. The area is close to the western edge of the Parco Nazionale della Val Grande, although the core protected wilderness is farther east. Omegna is the nearest town of size, on Lake Orta, with shops, services and rail connections. This part of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area is known for alpine valleys, chestnut and beech woods, and access toward the Ossola mountains.
