The Anza river valley is the main nearby landscape element. The western edge of Val Grande National Park is within this part of the province, and Macugnaga at the head of the Anzasca valley gives access to the Monte Rosa side with ski lifts about 35–45 minutes away by road. Domodossola is the nearest town of size, with rail connections, services and a substantial historic centre. The wider Ossola area is known for alpine valleys, stone villages and mountain walking.
