The Tyrrhenian coast is at the door here, with Nicotera Marina on the Gulf of Gioia Tauro and views across the Strait area toward Sicily and the Aeolian Islands in clear weather. The Costa degli Dei coast begins farther north in the province, but this stretch is still a lived-in Calabrian shoreline of beaches backed by low hills and olive country. Aspromonte rises inland to the south-east but is outside the 15 km landscape, so it matters more for longer drives than for the immediate setting.
