The Tyrrhenian coast is a few kilometres away, and this stretch faces the Aeolian Islands offshore. The area is crossed by short torrent valleys descending from the Peloritani toward the sea. Tindari and its hilltop sanctuary are nearby on the same coastal sector, with the Marinello lagoon area below the promontory. Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is the nearest larger town, with the usual range of shops, services and rail connections on the Messina–Palermo line. Milazzo is also within daily practical reach and provides ferry links to the Aeolian Islands. The wider area is known for citrus, olives and hazelnuts on the coastal and lower hill slopes.
