Lago d'Averno is within the area, and the Lucrino and Fusaro lakes are also nearby. Much of the surrounding landscape falls inside the Parco Regionale dei Campi Flegrei. Pozzuoli itself is a substantial town with the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Rione Terra promontory, the Temple of Serapis/Macellum, port services and everyday urban amenities. Baia and Bacoli are close by, with the archaeological zone around Baia and Capo Miseno on the same volcanic coastal system. The area is known for bradyseism, Roman archaeology and the Phlegraean Fields caldera. Because this is inside the continuous built-up area of greater Naples, the urban cap applies.
