This is in the built-up area of Alessandria, in the flat plain between the Tanaro and Bormida rivers. The landscape within about 15 km is mainly agricultural plain with river corridors and transport infrastructure. Alessandria is the nearest town of size and has the full services of a provincial capital, including a substantial historic centre, rail links and hospitals. The wider area is known for mixed farming and for the wine hills of Monferrato farther off, but those hills are not the immediate setting here.
