The Clitunno river rises nearby at the Fonti del Clitunno, and the Temple of Clitumnus in the same area is part of the UNESCO Longobards in Italy group. Monte Subasio and the ridge above Spoleto are close parts of the surrounding landscape. Spoleto is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre, fortress and services. Assisi is also nearby, with the Basilica of San Francesco and UNESCO status, but it lies beyond the immediate landscape rather than inside it.
