Rustico in Vicovaro

The cluster is in the Aniene valley at the foot of the Lucretili and Simbruini side of the Apennines. The Aniene River runs through this part of the valley. The Monti Lucretili Regional Natural Park begins a short distance to the west, and the Monti Simbruini Regional Natural Park lies to the east in the upper valley. The nearest ski lifts are in the Monte Livata area above Subiaco, roughly an hour by road depending on the exact starting point. Tivoli is the nearest substantial town, with major historic villas including Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa, both UNESCO-listed, and Rome is the main city for services and transport. This stretch of eastern Lazio is known for the limestone hill country of the Roman Apennine foothills and for the historic towns along the Via Tiburtina and the Aniene valley.
