The Aniene River runs through this side of the city. Within about 15 km there is the Riserva Naturale della Valle dell’Aniene, a protected river corridor inside the metropolitan area. Tivoli is the nearest historic town of note, with Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, both UNESCO sites, but they are outside the immediate urban landscape.
