This is mountain country of larch woods, steep side valleys and high pastures, with the head of the valley around the Prali basin. The nearest ski lifts are at Prali, about a 20 minute drive from Massello. The nearest town of some size is Pinerolo, which has the main rail, shops and services for the valley. The area is known for the old Waldensian settlements of the Valli Valdesi and for former talc mining in the Germanasca valley.
