Rustico in San Raffaele Cimena

The cluster is on the first hills north-east of Turin, in the belt where the Po plain meets the Collina Torinese. The Po runs a few kilometres to the south, with the green corridor of the Parco del Po Piemontese along sections of the river near San Mauro Torinese and Chivasso. The nearest large city is Turin, which provides the full range of services, rail connections, universities, museums and major hospitals. Within this part of the hill country the landscape is a mix of wooded slopes, small vineyards, farm fields and villages on ridge roads. Superga and the Basilica di Superga are within the wider hill system nearby, but the setting here is still mainly peri-urban countryside rather than a distinct mountain or lake landscape. The area is known locally for hillside wine growing in the Turin hills and for the string of settlements between the city edge and the lower Canavese.
