The Malone stream runs through Front and joins the Orco nearby; the Orco valley opens toward the lower Alpine valleys around Rivarolo Canavese and Cuorgnè. The nearest town of some size is Ciriè, with rail links, shops and services, and Rivarolo Canavese is the main small centre for the upper Canavese plain. Turin is the main city for work and transport, but it is outside the immediate landscape. This part of northern Canavese is known for mixed farming, small industrial settlements and villages spread between fields and low wooded rises.
