The nearest ski lifts are the small lifts at Palit above Fondo, roughly an hour’s drive up the valley and across toward the upper Canavese side; the main Aosta Valley ski areas are farther and do not shape the immediate landscape. Ivrea is the nearest town of size, with a full service centre and a substantial historic core. The area is known in Piemonte for its wooded Alpine valley setting and for small stone villages scattered along the side valleys.
