Rivarolo Canavese

The cluster lies in the Canavese plain at the foot of the Graian Alps, with the first alpine valleys beginning to the north and west. The Orco and Malone watercourses run through the wider area, and the Canavese zone is marked by the morainic landscape left by the ancient glacier of the Ivrea amphitheatre. The Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso begins farther up the Orco valley, outside the immediate 15 km landscape. Within about 15 km, Cuorgnè and Castellamonte are the nearest towns of some size; Ivrea is farther away and is a UNESCO industrial city for Olivetti, but that is outside the local radius. The area is known in general for the Canavese transition from plain to pre-Alpine valleys, for ceramics around Castellamonte, and for the Sacro Monte di Belmonte near Valperga, which is part of the UNESCO Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy.
