The Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Regional Park is within this part of the valley to the west. The nearest ski area is at Sauze d’Oulx in the Via Lattea domain, roughly 35–45 minutes by road depending on the access point. Susa is the nearest town of size and has rail services, shops and major Roman remains including the Arch of Augustus and the amphitheatre. The valley is one of the historic Alpine routes between Turin and France and is known for forts and abbeys, including the Sacra di San Michele farther east in the valley.
