The entrances to the Orrido di Chianocco and the mountain side of the valley are within this area, and the Sacra di San Michele stands on Monte Pirchiriano a short distance to the east. The valley contains the old centres and castles of Avigliana, with its lakes just beyond the 15 km radius. Susa is the main nearby town of size up-valley, with Roman remains and rail services, while Avigliana is the main town down-valley with services and a station. The area is known for the Val di Susa corridor between Turin and the Alpine passes, and for mountain walking from the side valleys above Condove.
