The Stura di Viù runs through the valley, and Lago di Malciaussia lies above Usseglio in the same mountain basin. The area is next to the Parco Naturale di Malciaussia, and the larger Parco Naturale Orsiera-Rocciavrè is farther south across the mountain sector. Small ski facilities have existed at Pian Benot above Usseglio, about a 15–20 minute drive from the village area when operating.
