Ampia metratura, possibili molteplici destinazioni

This is the Monferrato hill country, with ridged vineyards, woods and cultivated slopes around the village. The nearby river is the Po to the north of the hills, outside the immediate ridge system but part of the wider local geography. Asti is the nearest town of size, with rail services, shops and the main concentration of services; Chivasso is another practical centre. The area is known for wine, especially the Monferrato vineyards, and for mixed hill agriculture with hazelnuts and small hilltop villages. Parts of Monferrato farther south have UNESCO vineyard landscape status, but not this immediate area around Cocconato.
