Location score 72/100The cluster sits in the Susa Valley under the Cottian Alps, with steep mountain slopes rising directly around Novalesa and the Moncenisio area at the head of the valley. The Cenischia stream runs through the immediate area before joining the Dora Riparia lower in the valley. The Orsiera-Rocciavrè Natural Park lies nearby on the south side of the valley system, and the broader upper valley is one of the main Alpine corridors between Italy and France. The nearest ski areas are the small lifts around Pian del Frais above Chiomonte and the larger Via Lattea domain farther down the valley around Oulx and Sauze d’Oulx, both reached by mountain road. Susa is the nearest town of size, with shops, services, rail connections and a substantial Roman and medieval historic core. Novalesa itself is known for the Abbey of Novalesa and for the group of waterfalls in the wooded side valley above the village.
