The Sangone valley and the wooded morainic hills between Rivoli, Avigliana and Giaveno shape the local landscape. The Laghi di Avigliana are within the area, with two natural lakes at the mouth of the valley. The Parco naturale dei Laghi di Avigliana is the main protected area nearby. The nearest ski lifts are up the Susa Valley around Sauze d’Oulx and Bardonecchia, well beyond the local 15 km landscape and reached by a substantial drive. Rivoli is the nearest town of size, with a historic centre and the Castello di Rivoli; the western edge of Turin is also close and provides the full services of a major city.
