The cluster is in the upper Susa Valley in the Cottian Alps, with high alpine slopes and side valleys immediately around Oulx. The Dora Riparia runs through the valley. The Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Regional Natural Park is nearby in the valley system. The nearest ski lifts are in the Via Lattea area, including Sauze d’Oulx and Cesana Torinese, a short drive from Oulx. The nearest town of size is Susa, which has rail links and Roman remains; Turin is the main city down the valley. The area is known for Alpine skiing, mountain routes toward Montgenèvre and Bardonecchia, and as one of the main upper valleys linking Italy and France.
