The Orsiera-Rocciavrè Regional Natural Park is nearby on the south side of the valley. The nearest ski areas are the Via Lattea slopes around Pragelato and Sestriere, reached up-valley in roughly 30-45 minutes by road depending on the lift base. Pinerolo is the nearest larger town down-valley, with a hospital, rail connections and most everyday services. This part of the valley is known for alpine villages, forested slopes, side valleys and the historic Waldensian presence in the wider Pinerolese valleys.
