This is the Agro Pontino plain between Rome and the Lepini Hills, with low flat reclaimed farmland around the town and the Tyrrhenian coast a few kilometres west. The nearest coast is the stretch between Torvaianica, Lavinio and Anzio-Nettuno, with sandy beaches and dune remnants in places. The Parco Nazionale del Circeo lies farther south and does not fall inside the immediate landscape here. Anzio and Nettuno are the nearest larger coastal centres, with ports, services and railway links; Rome is the major city to the north for work and transport. Aprilia sits in a heavily settled road corridor with industry, logistics and dispersed modern development typical of the Pontine plain.
