The Camaiore area is crossed by the Camaiore valley and sits a few kilometres inland from the Versilia coast. The Parco Regionale delle Alpi Apuane begins within this inland mountain belt. The nearest town of size is Viareggio on the coast, while Lucca is the nearest historic city with full services and a walled centre. Pietrasanta, a few kilometres north, is known for its art foundries and sculpture workshops.
