The Sinis coast is nearby, with long sandy beaches at Is Arenas and the dune and pinewood belt behind them. The Tirso river reaches the sea south of here near the Oristano gulf. The marine protected area of the Sinis Peninsula and Isola di Mal di Ventre begins farther south around Cabras and does not sit at the door of Narbolia. The nearest town of size is Oristano, which has the provincial services and a substantial historic centre. This part of western Sardinia is known for beaches, pinewoods, wetlands around the Oristano gulf, and for the agricultural plain inland.
