Location score 67/100The cluster is in the Ceno valley in the Apennines of Parma, with wooded ridges and pasture around Varsi and the upper course of the Ceno river close by. This is the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine belt rather than the Po plain, and the daily landscape is a sequence of narrow valleys, chestnut and mixed woodland, and small hill villages on spurs. The nearest larger town is Borgo Val di Taro, which provides the main services for this part of the upper valleys; Parma is much farther away and matters more for administration than for the immediate setting.
