The cluster is in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with the Parma Apennine ridges and the high ground around Monte Marmagna and Monte Navert within the local landscape. The Cedra valley is the main river valley here, and the area falls within the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. Lagdei, on the edge of the lakes and high pastures below Monte Marmagna, is the local access point for hiking and winter snow activities; the nearest small ski area is Pratospilla, roughly a 20-minute drive. The nearest larger centre for regular services is Langhirano, while Parma is the main city used for wider shopping, rail connections and hospitals. The area is known for mountain pasture, chestnut woods, reservoirs and trail access into the national-park section of the upper Parma and Cedra valleys.
