The Ceno river runs through Bardi, and the landscape within this radius is mostly wooded ridges, pasture and steep valley sides. Parco Regionale delle Valli del Cedra e del Parma lies to the east beyond the immediate area, but the local setting is chiefly the Ceno valley and surrounding Apennine relief. Bardi itself has the large Castello di Bardi on a rocky spur above the river, which is the main landmark in the area. The nearest higher Apennine passes and ski ground are around the Prato Spilla area, roughly an hour or a little more by road, so they do not define the immediate setting. The area is known for mountain hamlets, chestnut country and the fortified village of Bardi.
