This is the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine belt rather than the Po plain, and the daily landscape is a sequence of narrow valleys, chestnut and mixed woodland, and small hill villages on spurs. The nearest larger town is Borgo Val di Taro, which provides the main services for this part of the upper valleys; Parma is much farther away and matters more for administration than for the immediate setting.
