Location score 72/100The cluster is in the northern Apennines, in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine belt around the Cisa pass. The Taro valley runs through this area. Much of the surrounding upland falls within the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. The nearest ski area is Schia on Monte Caio, roughly an hour's drive, with larger lift systems farther away in Cerreto Laghi and Zum Zeri. Berceto itself is a small mountain town on the Via Francigena, with a Romanesque cathedral and a compact historic centre; Pontremoli in Lunigiana and Parma are the main larger towns used for services. The area is known for pass roads, chestnut woods, stone hamlets and Apennine hiking.
