Parts of the nearby mountains fall within the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. The nearest skiing is the small lift area at Zum Zeri, roughly an hour’s drive, with larger stations farther away on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine crest. Borgo Val di Taro is the main town of the valley and has the usual services, rail link and road connection over the Cisa route toward Parma and Liguria. The area is known for porcini mushrooms from Borgotaro, which have IGP status.
