The Cisa Pass area and the upper Taro valley are within the local landscape, and the national border ridge toward Monte Gottero is not far to the west. Parts of the area fall within the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. The nearest ski slopes are the small lifts at Schia on Monte Caio, roughly an hour’s drive, with larger Abetone farther away but outside the local radius. Berceto itself is a small Apennine centre on the Via Francigena with a Romanesque cathedral and a compact historic core; Parma is the nearest city of size for full services. The area is known for mountain passes, chestnut woods, pasture and old route traffic between the Po plain and Liguria.
