Much of the area falls within the Parco naturale regionale delle Valli del Cedra e del Parma only farther north, but around Bedonia the immediate landscape is chiefly mountain pasture, forest and scattered hamlets rather than a major protected park. The nearest ski area is Zum Zeri in the Zeri mountains, roughly 40–50 minutes by road, with other small Apennine lifts farther away. The nearest town of some size is Borgo Val di Taro, which has services, rail access and a larger historic centre. The area is known for Apennine upland landscapes, mushrooms and seasonal mountain tourism.
