The Gran Sasso massif is the main mountain presence to the north-west, visible from parts of this belt of Pescara province. The Tirino valley and the edge of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park are within roughly this inland zone, though the park boundary is not at the village itself. The nearest larger town is Pescara on the Adriatic, which provides the main rail station, hospital, airport and full city services.
