The Pescara River valley runs nearby and the landscape is a mix of lower hills, quarryed slopes and valley floor below the mountain front. The nearest ski area is Passolanciano-Maielletta on the Maiella, roughly 30–40 minutes by road. Chieti is the nearest larger town, with full services and a historic centre, and Pescara is the main city on this side of Abruzzo for rail links, airport and major retail.
