Rustico in Loreto Aprutino

The area sits between the lower hills of the Vestina zone and the eastern side of the Gran Sasso massif, which is visible inland and begins within roughly 15 km around Farindola and the Montebello di Bertona side. The River Tavo runs through this part of the province. Part of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park lies within that radius on the mountain side. The nearest ski area is Passo Lanciano on the Majella, about an hour’s drive, so it is not part of the immediate landscape. Pescara is the nearest city of size, with a full range of services, rail links and the airport. Loreto Aprutino is known for olive oil production, and this stretch of inland Abruzzo is also associated with vineyards, hill agriculture and brick-and-stone historic centres.
