The Trebbia river runs through this area, with wooded slopes, side valleys and exposed rocky outcrops around the main valley. Within about 15 km is the Parco Regionale Fluviale del Trebbia, created around the river corridor and its gravel banks and gorges. Bobbio is the nearest town of note, with a substantial historic centre, the Abbey of San Colombano and the Ponte Gobbo over the Trebbia. This part of the valley is known for river landscapes, summer swimming spots and road access into the Apennine passes toward Liguria.
