Location score 62/100This is the Val d’Arda hill country on the first Apennine relief east of Piacenza, with cultivated slopes, small woods and ridgelines rather than high mountains. The Arda valley is the main local landform. Within about 15 km are the castle villages of Vigoleno and Castell’Arquato, both with preserved medieval centres; Vigoleno is in the Borghi più belli d’Italia list. The area is known for vineyards and for the upper Val d’Arda around the Veleia zone.
